FIND HARMONY AMONG YOUR PASSION AND YOUR JOB.

In this tool, passion is found at the intersection of what you love and what you are good at. In order to define a passion that can have an impact on the world and contribute to your desired lifestyle, the eight areas of this venn diagram need to be explored and defined.

This activity can help discover your purpose and how you can align it with your current job.

Warning: this activity can cause people to realise that their purpose and their job do not align. If you anticipate this might happen in your business, you might choose to work on some other areas of your culture before rolling this out. Or, maybe you have the means to deliver to customers even if people that are not a good fit were to leave the company. Using a tool like this to hire and train the right people in the long term will result in having a better team made up of people who have a job that they believe is aligned with their purpose, in sync with the mission and vision of your company.

What to do:

❶ Start by making lists for each of the four primary circles:

• What You Love
• What the World Needs
• What You Can be Paid For
• What You are Good At

❷ Next, look at the overlaps between each pair and make a list for each intersection:

• Passion
• Mission
• Vocation
• Profession

❸ Take note of the gap outside of each primary circle when
not all four circles overlap. Make sure steps one and two
achieve harmony and prevent any gaps.
❹ Narrow down to one selection for each of the eight areas to define what Ikigai might be for you.
