Gratitude Board

Promote a culture of gratitude

PROMOTE A CULTURE OF GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION WITHIN A TEAM OR ORGANIZATION.

The Gratitude Board is a tool designed to promote a culture of gratitude and appreciation within a team or organization.

Expressing gratitude can be done one-on-one, but when it is shared in front of others, it has a lasting impact. That doesn’t mean you should not express gratitude frequently. Think of it as a way to encourage positive behavior to continue and highlight it to others who are still trying to figure it out.

To make the moment more substantial while keeping it simple, the remark should identify who and what they did that you are thankful for, including how it made you feel.

What to do:

❶  Whether using a physical board in the office or a virtual board on a platform like Miro, set up a space dedicated to the Gratitude Board. Ensure all team members have access to it. Determine the format for expressing gratitude. This could involve using sticky notes or text boxes on the board. Encourage creativity and personalization in how gratitude is expressed.
❷ Pay attention to those on your team and recognize any moment they do something you feel makes your day a little brighter or your job a little easier.
❸ To contribute to the board, write the name of the person you are wanting to express gratitude toward.
❹ Describe what they did in just one line or two. (Fill in the blank: “Thank you for ____.”)
❺ Add how it made you feel. (Fill in the blank: “It made me feel ____.”)
❻ Finish off with your name.
❼ Incorporate sharing gratitude into existing meetings or hold dedicated “Grateful for” sessions at regular intervals. Celebrate and acknowledge the expressions of gratitude shared on the board.
❽ For teams that don’t always meet with everyone frequently enough to review and board as a group, you may want to incorporate a way for the perso the gratitude is shown toward to acknowledge the remark, whether it’s by adding their initials, an emoji, or a note.
