Book Club Aha’s — Vol. 2

The FRAKXION Book Club gets together to dig into a book, build on each other’s interpretations, and pull out the aha’s that actually change how we work.

For this round, we dug into three reads on growth, competition, and problem-solving — and by the end, our discussion board was covered in sticky notes.

The Books

From Impossible to Inevitable by Aaron Ross and Jason Lemkin lays out a predictable, repeatable playbook for scaling B2B revenue past the founder-led-sales stage.

Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future by Peter Thiel and Blake Masters is a classic in the startup world, exploring bold ideas on innovation, entrepreneurship, and creating something truly unique.

Move Fast and Fix Things: The Trusted Leader’s Guide to Solving Hard Problems by Anne Morriss and Frances Frei is a practical guide for leaders who want to tackle challenges head-on and foster a culture of trust.

Our Aha Moments

From Impossible to Inevitable

– Squirrel bites: start small, stand back, watch if they take a bite.
– The simpler and tastier your bites, the better.
– Outbound helps nail your niche before scaling with inbound.
– Interview 20 customers to understand market fit.
– Don’t hire a sales rep until the founder can close the sale.
– Hire two sales reps, not one, to learn what works.
– Comfort and caution are the enemies of growth.
– Customer success is 5x more important than sales.

Zero to One

– Every time we create something new, we go from 0 to 1.
– Escape competition to succeed.
– Don’t disrupt, avoid competition.
– Once you are 10x better, you escape competition.
– A startup is the largest group of people you can convince to build a different future.
– Every startup should start with a very small market.
– Globalization without new technology is unsustainable.
– Network effect: a product gets more useful as more people use it.

Move Fast and Fix Things

– Move fast, but reduce the risk of breaking things.
– Stop pretending you know what problem to solve.
– Build a team of problem-solvers.
– Understand the stakeholders impacted most by the problem.
– Empower others to execute quickly.
– Speed requires focus and trade-offs.
– Comfortable inaction is riskier than uncomfortable action.
– Create “agility hacks” to leap top priorities ahead of work in progress.
